REMEMBER FOR 2009, ANYONE IN A LEGAL SUPPORT POSITION CAN BE NOMINATED FROM SOUTH SANTA BARBARA COUNTY. They do not have to be a member (although we hope every legal secretary out there will join) and they do not have to be nominated by a member.
Regarding the nominees below, some had multiple nominations. In those cases, the nominations were edited and combined for brevity and fairness.
#1 TERI COLLIER STRINGER of Price, Postel & Parma, LLP- This nominee is very pleasant, helpful, a great worker, always willing to assist with projects, always a team player, has a great personality, excellent office chemistry, and is very knowledgeable—the go to lady. On top of this nominee's other accomplishments, she is always professional, thorough, and willing to teach a newbie. The nominee's attitude towards her job, her attorneys and her consistency in attending continuing education courses has made her invaluable not only to her attorneys, but to her peers. And besides that … she's one heck of a nice person. You don't often find those two characteristics in anyone!
#2 DYAN DILLY, of Archbald & Spray, LLP- The four partners of this firm nominate their one and only legal assistant extraordinaire. This nominee serves as legal secretary to each of them, as well as handling other essential duties for the office. It is commonplace, these days, for a legal secretary to handle the secretarial needs of more than one lawyer. However, doing so for four partners should be recognized as very rare, if not unique. To further compliment this nominee's abilities, she handles her secretarial responsibilities at the highest levels of competence, resourcefulness and efficiency. If she did not have such talents, she could not make each one of her attorneys feel as if she worked exclusively for each one of them. This nominee is truly a special employee, not just because of the nominee's competence, but because she is reliable, trustworthy and always has the interests of our clients and reputation of the firm as her top priorities. This nominee is, without doubt, worthy of your honor this year, which she earns day in and day out working for us as a true professional in this challenging business.
#3 LYNDA HANSEN, of Price, Postel & Parma, LLP- This nominee is an amazing individual—a quick wit, and passionate about her job. She's loyal to her attorneys for whom she's responsible, and never shies away from doing over and above what she needs to or should do. This nominee doesn't mince words and believes in what she does. She's excellent in her job and keeps many balls bouncing in the air at once. She doesn't ask for accolades, but both her attorneys really depend and rely on her. She's always friendly and offers to help others at the drop of a hat. In this world where people believe that a "job is just a job," this nominee takes her position very seriously, is a bull-dog when it comes to her attorneys, is dedicated, conscientious and very good at her job. I highly recommend her for the award.
#4 BETSY WRIGHT, of Price Postel, & Parma, LLP- This nominee represents the profession as a whole by her integrity, work ethic, loyalty and above all by her kindness, cheerfulness and willingness to help her employers and co-workers. This nominee is just the best role model! She has always exhibited a very can-do attitude and is very efficient and professional. She gets along well with everyone she comes into contact with and is a wonderful GO-TO person when you have a question. If you need help, she is ready, willing and able. This nominee deserves to be 2008 Legal Secretary of the year.
#5 SUSAN ANDERSON, of Howell, Moore & Gough, LLP- Simply stated, this nominee is the most reliable, loyal and effective secretary, assistant and legal assistant we have ever encountered. Several of us first knew this nominee as one of the top secretaries at our old firm, which she joined in 1982, and she has been an integral part of our law firm since our formation in July 1996. This nominee is not only a "triple threat" – secretary, assistant and legal assistant – she also serves as office manager, equipment repair guru, notary and den mother. If there is ever a problem in our office, this nominee has the solution. She has yet to meet a challenge, in her work or in her life, that she has not dealt with and overcome, always with grace and poise. This nominee never misses a day of work. She never makes a mistake. She thinks of everything, down to the smallest detail. She is trusted and respected not only by all of us and our clients, but also by all of those with whom she worked at our old firm. In every sense, this nominee represents the model Legal Secretary of the Year. We are proud to join in nominating her.
#6 NOEMI VASQUEZ, of Reicker, Pfau, Pyle & McRoy, LLP- This nominee is hard working, loyal and outstanding at her job. She is conscientious and takes great pride in her work. She is very creative, well organized and a big asset to the firm. Her playful nature and quick smile maker her fun to be around. She loves to be helpful. It is a privilege to know her and work with her.
#7 ELIZABETH KAPP, of Reicker, Pfau, Pyle & McRoy, LLP- I nominate this person for "Legal Secretary of the Year." This nominee is a great person and a smart lady, which in turn makes her a super secretary for me. Her work ethics keep her organized and on top of things, especially juggling two very busy attorneys. When she is working on a critical document or project under limited deadlines, she still manages to give you a smile and be helpful. She has a kind and up beat demeanor in everything she does, even when she is under the gun. Our office believes in TEAMWORK. She is organized and a TEAM PLAYER. Not only is she an exceptional employee, she is FUN! She loves to dance, especially ballroom dancing. Outside the office she is a wonderful mother to three daughters, and she is a great daughter to her mother. The way she is about and with her family reflects the attitude she has as a legal secretary—she loves her work and the people she works with. I have learned a lot from her, and continue to. I urge you to VOTE for my nominee.
#8 TERRY UTTERBACK, of Price, Postel & Parma, LLP- This nominee is a friendly, supportive and very knowledgeable secretary who can always be depended on. There is no limit to her loyalty on the job and to friends, and her work ethic is impeccable. She has a warm and caring attitude and takes great pride in her work. It is a privilege to know her and work with her.
#9 LISA BAUTISTA, of Reicker, Pfau, Pyle & McRoy, LLP- This nominee is positive, enthusiastic, eager and willing to be supportive to her employer and co-workers. Her personality and attitude are infectious. She attacks every new task with interest and eagerness to learn it well. She appears tireless, yet has an exceedingly full schedule at work and at home every day. Her smile gives everyone a lift. She is a privilege to work with!
